Bye bye, old hardware — thanks for the service!
all2all has completed the migration of its last servers still running on legacy hardware. This final operation concerned the web servers martinlutherking.all2all.org and franzkafka.all2all.org, which still hosted older websites relying, among other things, on PHP 5.6.
Replacing these machines brings an important modernisation phase to a close. Every web server and hosted website on the all2all network now benefits from a harmonised environment and the same set of features.
Users can choose the PHP version that best suits their applications: PHP 5.6 for legacy websites that still require it, the 7.x releases, or the 8.x releases up to PHP 8.5. The required version can be selected and deployed directly through the Virtualmin GPL administration interface. For new projects, and whenever an application permits it, we naturally recommend using a recent, supported PHP release.
The platform’s modern tools are also available in the shell environment of every hosting account. These include Aider, an AI-powered coding assistant, Hugo, a static site generator, and Pandoc, a versatile document conversion tool.
These old machines provided many years of dependable service. It is now time to say: bye bye, old hardware — thanks for the service!
